George Morris is a partner in the firm’s Birmingham office. Mr. Morris’s trial practice has concentrated in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury defense and business litigation. He represents a wide range of professionals, including both individual physicians and hospitals.
Mr. Morris has relevant experience both as an attorney advising health care providers, and as a health care provider himself. Before he became licensed to practice law, Mr. Morris worked for JBS Mental Health Authority as a counselor for at risk children and their families, and prior to that as an adolescent counselor at the Mississippi State Hospital.
In addition to his work in medical malpractice, Mr. Morris also has experience defending cases in numerous other areas, including estate and trust disputes, breach of contract, fraud, products liability, and toxic tort claims.
Mr. Morris was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He is amagna cum laude graduate of Cumberland School of Law, where he was a Cordell Hull Fellow. He was elected to the prestigious Curia Honoris following his graduation from Cumberland. In 1997, Mr. Morris received his undergraduate degree from Millsaps College, where he graduated cum laudewith a degree in psychology.
Mr. Morris was selected by his peers for inclusion in The 2012 Top Attorneys in Birmingham – Rising Star by Birmingham Magazine and he was also selected by Super Lawyers’ as a 2013 Alabama Rising Star.
He was a member of the Birmingham Bar Association’s Future Leaders’ Forum Committee and he was honored to be selected for and graduate from Class 12 of the Alabama State Bar’s Leadership Forum.
Currently, Mr. Morris has been appointed by the Alabama State Bar to serve on the Lawyer University Task Force and the Future of the Profession Task Force. He has also been appointed by the Alabama State Bar to the Leadership Forum Planning Committee for 2016-2017.
Mr. Morris is a member of the Alabama Bar Association (Litigation and Healthcare Sections), the American Bar Association (Litigation and Healthcare Sections), Defense Research Institute (Medical Liability & Healthcare Law, Lawyer’s Professionalism & Ethics and The Young Lawyers’ Committees), the American Health Lawyers Association, the Birmingham Bar Association and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association.
Mr. Morris has also been admitted as a member of the Professional Liability Defense Federation. Mr. Morris is also serving on the Executive Leadership Team for the American Heart Association’s 2017 Birmingham Heart Walk.
