Gregory Boden focuses his practice on complex litigation and investigations. He has experience representing clients in all aspects of litigation, including responsive pleadings, fact discovery, depositions, motion practice, summary judgment, and trial. Mr. Boden’s litigation experience includes :

  • obtaining summary judgments for a pharmaceutical manufacturer and a medical device manufacturer in qui tamlitigations concerning alleged fraudulent claims submitted to insurers;
  • serving as local counsel and trial team member in a civil jury trial in Los Angeles Superior Court defending a major life insurer against bad faith and Unfair Competition Law claims (case settled favorably mid-trial);
  • representing a Fortune 50 company in the litigation of a consumer fraud suit brought by the Washington Attorney General seeking more than $100 million;
  • representing a major broker-dealer in a securities fraud and RICO class action in the Southern District of California; and
  • obtaining a motion to dismiss in District Court and winning a related civil bench trial in Orange County Superior Court defending a Jewish synagogue from allegations that its religious practices violated California’s Unfair Competition Law.

Mr. Boden’s investigations experience includes investigations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and securities laws. Mr. Boden has represented a major financial institution in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s enforcement action involving the hiring of relatives of foreign officials.

Mr. Boden has also represented the audit committee of board of directors of a California retail company in connection with potential suppression of insurance reserves and misconduct by company management.

Mr. Boden was a summer associate at WilmerHale in 2013. In that role, Mr. Boden researched and drafted memorandum involving complex civil procedure questions, patent licensing strategies, and claim construction in patent litigation. Previously, Mr. Boden was a judicial extern to Chief Judge Kozinski at the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

While in law school, Mr. Boden was a research assistant focusing on the intersection of trade secret law and Fourth Amendment search jurisprudence; federal and state securities laws; and international litigation with an emphasis on the extraterritorial application of US law after Morrison v. National Australia Bank.

After obtaining his undergraduate degree, Mr. Boden served in the United States Navy. He graduated from Nuclear Power School—a complex graduate level engineering program involving physics, electrical engineering, reactor dynamics, and reactor operation.

After graduation, Mr. Boden worked for the Assistant Director of the Officer Department at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command and drafted reports for the Commanding Officer regarding training programs, conducted detailed statistical analysis on Officer attrition rates for Naval Reactors, and supervised incoming officer students.
