Kara M Burgarella

Kara M. Burgarella joined Faulkner & Graves in 2002 and she was elevated to partner in 2012. With an energetic and caring personality, Burgarella specifically chose to begin her career as an attorney in the area of personal injury because of her strong desire to help accident victims obtain fair and just results.

She is a dedicated (some would say “fierce”) advocate for her clients. One example is a winning jury verdict in excess of $350,000.00 against a local car dealership whose negligence caused the wheel of a truck they serviced to fall off while driving down the highway. In that case, the insurance company offer refused to offer more than $50,000.00 for our client’s resulting shoulder injury, but Burgarella’s belief in the case and her trial skills triumphed.

In 2012, Burgarella achieved the distinction of becoming board certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. This honor is reserved for lawyers who demonstrate an enhanced level of skill and expertise in their field and prove it through rigorous examination and testing of their experience and knowledge by the NBTA.

She is active in the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, an organization dedicated to preserving the rights of injured persons within the civil justice system, and currently serves on the Women’s Caucus Leadership board. She was recognized by Super Lawyersmagazine as a “Rising Star” five years in a row (2010 through 2015), an award given to “top up-and-coming” young lawyers in each state.

Burgarella graduated from Colgate University in 1997, and obtained her law degree from Quinnipiac University in May of 2002. A native of Guilford, then known by her maiden name Kara Crismale, she was a standout basketball player at Guilford High School and again at Colgate University.

As a result of her athletic achievements, she has been inducted into the Guilford High School Sports Hall of Fame (2009), the New Haven County Tap-Off High School Sports Hall of Fame (2012) and the Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (2016). She resides with her husband, and their two bulldogs, in Guilford.
