Michael C. Guarino is a shareholder in Carr Allison’s Birmingham (AL) office. His practice primarily focuses on employment matters. He represents employers in disputes concerning discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, harassment, wage and hour issues, negligent employment practices and non-compete agreements.
He counsels clients and defends claims arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Alabama Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
In addition to his employment practice, Michael regularly represents clients throughout the southeast in ADA accessibility cases. He also has experience defending commercial disputes, business litigation and bankruptcy matters.
Michael was selected as a member of the Birmingham Bar Association’s Future Leaders Forum in 2017. This group is dedicated to cultivating a group of young lawyers to be leaders of the bar, their firms and elsewhere in the community.
Michael received his Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University (AL). While at Cumberland he was a member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy, the Moot Court Board and was selected by the faculty to serve as a Judge Abraham Caruthers Teaching Fellow.
Before attending law school, Michael received his Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University where he majored in Accountancy. He was selected to be the president of the Executive Society, an organization comprised of the business school’s top students. Michael was also a founding member of Auburn University’s mock trial competition team.
