Misty Allen advises clients on the acquisition, development, financing, leasing and transfer of real property investments across multiple asset classes and industries. She has represented developers, real estate private equity funds and REITs in domestic and cross-border leveraged buyouts, dispositions, build-to-suits, sale-leasebacks, lease restructurings, attendant third-party financings and defeasances and asset management matters.
Relatedly, she has represented institutional clients in co-investments, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, public-private partnerships and other corporate restructuring transactions. Her extensive experience also includes the representation of global lending institutions in real estate capital markets activities, including the issuance of first-lien and mezzanine portfolio loans as well as the origination, securitization and sale of complex CMBS loans.
Ms. Allen received an A.B. in Public Policy, with minors in Economics and English, from Duke University, where she studied abroad at the University of Edinburgh, and a J.D., with a concentration in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution, from the Northwestern University School of Law, where she studied abroad at the Université de Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne. During law school, she completed internships with the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the Kathmandu School of Law in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Prior to law school, she served as an adjunct professor and lecturer at the Nanjing University of Finance and Economics in Nanjing, China, and as a language instructor at The Caledonian School in Prague, Czech Republic.
