Myrna Salinas Baumann is an associate in the Austin office of King & Spalding and a member of the firm’s Contracts and Business Torts practice, where her practice is primarily focused on labor and employment law.
She has represented clients in a variety of disputes in arbitrations, federal and state trial courts, and appellate proceedings before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Texas Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court of the U.S.
Myrna is experienced in representing clients in employment litigation disputes, including discrimination and retaliation claims asserted under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
She is also experienced in assisting clients with internal investigations of alleged employment and discrimination disputes. Some of Myrna’s representative employment litigation clients include a multi-national beverage company; a public university medical center; and a multi-national fracture stimulation company.
Myrna also has substantial complex commercial litigation experience with matters involving claims for breach of contract, contractual indemnity, and pre-litigation risk analysis for clients such as a global manufacturer of electrical components and tools; a national malt beverage brewer; and a global wind turbine manufacturer.
In addition to her litigation practice, Myrna participates in the firm’s pro bono efforts, and she has earned multiple King & Spalding Pro Bono Service Awards in recognition of her commitment to pro bono matters. She also contributes to the firm’s diversity efforts: she serves as the Co-Chair of the Latino Affinity Group, the planning committee Chair of the firm’s sixth biennial Diversity Retreat, and is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee and the Women’s Affinity Group. Myrna is also active in the Austin community, in which she serves as a member of the board of directors of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, a board member of the Hispanic Bar Association of Austin’s Charitable Foundation, and is a long-time volunteer for admission and fundraising efforts of her alma mater, Rice University.
Prior to joining King & Spalding, Myrna served as a law clerk to the Honorable Hilda G. Tagle in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
