Art Scavone is a senior project finance lawyer with extensive experience in international and domestic projects. He is also the longstanding Global Head of the Firm’s Project Finance Group.Clients who benefit from Art’s considerable experience include sponsors, commercial banks, underwriters, institutional investors, export credit agencies, and other bilateral and multilateral agencies. Of particular note is his recent work in the US power sector, where he has been representing lead arrangers in term loan B transactions, as well as his international work, where he has been representing large groups of export credit agencies in complex emerging market project financings.
With over 30 years of project finance experience, clients come to Art for advice relating to a diverse range of projects, including power plants, liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, petrochemical facilities, pipelines, oil and gas concessions, mines, renewable energy facilities and transmission lines.
Representative projects in the US include the financing of gas-fired power plants in Texas and Pennsylvania, coal-fired power plants in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia and Texas, and renewable energy facilities in Texas, California, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas.
Internationally, he has assisted clients in the financing of an LNG facility in Russia, a petrochemical facility in Qatar, a nitrogen plant in Mexico and a gas-to-liquids facility in Trinidad and Tobago.
Leading industry publications continually rank him as one of the premier project finance law practitioners. In addition to his Band 1 ranking in Chambers USA for the last fourteen years, Chambers Global 2017 ranked him Band 1 for the sixteenth year in a row. U.S. News & World Report – Best Lawyers 2017 named Art “Lawyer of the Year” for project finance law, and in 2017 Legal 500 elected Art as one of only three project finance practitioners in the United States to its inaugural Hall of Fame.
