Christopher Busey is an associate in the Labor & Employment department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Chicago office. He has extensive experience representing employers in matters involving employee benefit plans and plan administrators in benefits litigation under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).
He has experience in a wide variety of ERISA matters ranging from single-plaintiff claims for benefits to complex class actions for breach of fiduciary duty. Mr. Busey has litigated hundreds of ERISA cases to resolution in jurisdictions throughout the country. Mr. Busey has litigated hundreds of ERISA cases to resolution in jurisdictions throughout the country. He has also represented employers subject to Department of Labor audits related to their benefit plans. Mr. Busey also represents employers on a range of employment issues aside from his ERISA litigation work.
This includes defending employers in discrimination, workplace harassment, and retaliation claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and various state and local statutes. Mr. Busey also represents employers before the National Labor Relations Board.
Mr. Busey is also active in a number of non-profit organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors for West Town Bikes, a Chicago-based organization that utilizes bicycling as a tool for community development. He also proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Unsilence, a national human rights education organization.
