Colleen McCoy is an attorney who is passionate about providing caring and aggressive representation to clients throughout all stages of their family law cases. Colleen focuses her practice on helping clients fight for their rights but also upon resolving that which can be resolved.
Prior to forming McCoy Family Law, LLC, Colleen practiced for several years as a partner in other small firms and as a solo practitioner in the Denver area. It was during this time that she earned her reputation as a bulldog in her representation of clients.
Colleen is a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. During law school, Colleen was actively involved in the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honors Society, the International Law Society, Intellectual Property Society, and Business Law Society.
She also interned with the Law Office of Mary Jean Kindschuh, who was an early advocate for advancing GLBTQ parental rights in the Denver metro area.
After receiving her Juris Doctorate, Colleen interned with Colorado Legal Services/Metro Volunteer Lawyers. Colorado Legal Services is a nonprofit specializing in family law issues whose primary purpose is to provide free and reduced fee legal services to indigent people.
These experiences laid the framework for the tough but sympathetic representation that Delgado & McCoy, LLC provides today.
Colleen earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
During her time at UNM, Colleen worked in the psychology department as a research assistant for Dr. Kathy Stansbury studying the stress hormone cortisol and coping behaviors in preschool aged children. Colleen partnered with Dr. Stansbury and their findings were published in the Journal of the International Society of Psychoneuroendocrinology in 1998.
When not engaged in zealously representing her clients, Colleen enjoys snowboarding, fly fishing, camping, music and traveling. She is married and has three children.
