Julian P. SpearChief-Morris

Julian SpearChief-Morris is a member of the Kainai First Nation/Blood Tribe (Blackfoot Confederacy) and he focuses his practice on Native American affairs. While attending law school, Julian was a summer associate with the firm in 2016 and 2017 in its Native American Affairs Practice Group where he worked primarily on complex litigation matters and assisted with transactional, government relations and strategic policy advice work. He was President of Harvard Law School’s Legal Aid Bureau where he was the first indigenous student to lead the bureau and as a student attorney, Julian represented low-income individuals primarily in child-custody disputes and eviction proceedings. Julian was Co-President of the Native American Law Students Association where he spearheaded initiatives to collaborate with other student organizations, build community for native students, and infuse public service into everyday life.

Julian completed over 1,200 hours of pro bono work during his time in law school and was awarded the Dean’s Award for Community Leadership at graduation. Prior to attending law school, Julian worked as a high school guidance counselor in Lethbridge School District No. 51 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada where he worked as a mentor, counselor, and liaison with indigenous high school students to help them reach their career goals.

Julian was a shooting guard for the University of Lethbridge Pronghorn Men’s Basketball Team, serving as a team captain for his final three seasons. He was awarded with the Urban and Regional Studies Prize for graduating as the top student in his major.
