Justine M. Tate focuses her practice on commercial litigation. Before entering private practice, she served as litigation counsel for the South Carolina Department of Revenue, handling all aspects of litigation for tax-related and alcohol-licensing matters, including drafting and issuing agency determinations and representing the department before the South Carolina Administrative Law Court.
She served as a paralegal for the upscale fitness club chain Equinox, Inc. and its subsidiaries, including SoulCycle, and as chief paralegal for global art auction house Sotheby’s, Inc., in New York City. Justine interned at The White House in the Office of Media Affairs in Washington, D.C., where she handled press coverage tracking and coordination of regional media relations at events for the President held on the White House grounds and throughout the country.
Justine served as Co-Director of The Hand Up Campaign, helping spearhead fundraising and marketing initiatives for Hannah House, a transitional shelter for women in downtown Columbia.
She also serves on the board of Children’s Chance of South Carolina, which provides non-medical financial assistance to families who have children with pediatric cancer and Growing Home Southeast, which provides at-risk youth and families with community and foster care services. She is currently a member of the Junior League of Columbia and Leadership Columbia Class of 2018, a program of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
