Michael J. Hui advises and represents employers in a broad range of employment law matters. He manages all aspects of litigation, including :
- Drafting and arguing motions attacking the pleadings
- Conducting investigation and witness interviews
- Propounding and responding to written discovery
- Taking and defending depositions of parties, experts, and percipient witnesses
- Drafting and arguing motions for summary judgment and adjudication
- Co-chairing civil jury trials
Michael has experience with single plaintiff and class action wage and hour claims, including piece-rate claims for trucking cases. He has defended employers and individuals in state and federal courts in matters regarding discrimination, harassment, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the California Family Rights Act (CFRA). He has also defended state agencies in constitutional matters.
Michael has counseled and advised employers on potential liability resulting from employment actions, best practices, good faith efforts to engage in the interactive process and to reasonably accommodate, and investigations.
His experience includes representing state agencies and employers in civil appeals regarding employment and administrative matters. During law school, Michael was a member of the University of San Francisco Law Review.
