Michael J. Drahos focuses his practice on the defense of products liability and related litigation, including cases of catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death, representing leading manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in actions by individual plaintiffs, class actions, and complex aggregate liability matters.
Michael possesses unusually deep experience in medical malpractice litigation involving the passenger vessel and cruise industry, with experience in general and casualty liability extending to trucking and mass transportation defense.
His clients include a multinational freight transportation and logistics company; two of the world’s most recognizable passenger cruise and leisure travel companies; a manufacturer of snowmobiles, tractors, and all-terrain vehicles; manufacturers of small appliances, munitions, childcare products, and herbal supplements; producers of automobile parts and heating and cooling equipment; major international sports and recreation brands; and some of the world’s largest retailers.
Michael brings valuable insight to the defense of litigation related to medical devices from his experience handling medical negligence claims on behalf of health care providers.
He regularly represents shipboard physicians and nurses located throughout every region of the globe, and has been instrumental in shaping and developing jurisdictional defenses associated with defending foreign doctors and nurses in the United States.
Michael frequently lectures on numerous topics relating to maritime medical malpractice litigation at various cruise line industry seminars and conventions.
Michael is a graduate of the prestigious International Association of Defense Counsel’s Trial Academy hosted by Stanford Law School. In 2013, he was invited to join the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), a highly selective group for attorneys whose peers have judged them to have achieved extraordinary professional distinction.
