Qiming Deng is an intellectual property associate in the San Diego office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. His practice focuses on patent prosecution and intellectual property counseling, serving clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and information technology industries.
Prior to joining the firm, Qiming prosecuted patent and trademark applications for qualifying pro bono clients at UCLA School of Law’s Patent and Trademark Clinic in partnership with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also conducted in vitro feasibility testing as a consultant for a biomedical device company.
During his graduate studies, Qiming gained extensive experience in cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry. His research utilized cell culture models to study Wnt modulation of ubiquitin-dependent turnover of the cell cycle inhibitor p27.
He also screened and evaluated substrate adaptors of the DDB-CUL4 E3 ligase complex. Prior to attending graduate school, he studied the population genetics of an acorn barnacle and its gastropod predator.
