Sabrina Shadi

Sabrina L. Shadi focuses her practice in the area of employment law, with an emphasis in age, sex, race, and national origin harassment and discrimination matters; Americans with Disabilities Act and other disability discrimination claims; and wage and hour, trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, workers’ compensation discrimination claims and OSHA issues.

Sabrina’s practice also involves the defense of class action matters, particularly with regard to wage and hour issues for companies in the hospitality, retail, healthcare, transportation and technology industries.

In addition, she provides training, investigates complaints and counsels employers in all aspects of personnel matters, including wage issues, harassment complaints, company-wide layoffs and terminations, and development of employee handbooks and policy and procedure manuals.

Experience :

• Developed and implemented wage and hour audits for a wide scope of clients, including those in the healthcare and hospitality industries.
• Has assisted employers in termination and restructuring efforts, including preparation and coordination of separation pay plans, severance agreements, California and federal WARN Act compliance, and related issues.
• Successfully represented clients in defense of putative class action cases, including achieving denial of class certification and a grant of motion for summary judgment on behalf of a hospitality client. Case concerned novel legal issues related to overtime pay.
• Successfully mediated and negotiated numerous client-favorable settlements to resolve complex and aggressively litigated putative wage and hour class actions, following strong motion practice.
• Negotiated a favorable settlement of two wage and hour class actions for a medical center client, brought on behalf of approximately 4,000 current and former employees, within 90 days of entering the case.
• Assists clients with the Cal/OSHA investigation process, negotiating with Cal/OSHA, appealing Cal/OSHA citations and reclassifying citations to reduce penalties and diminish clients’ potential exposure.
