Stuart I. Odell is Of Counsel in the New York and San Francisco offices of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he is a member of the firm’s energy and infrastructure finance practice. He has represented a broad range of public and private companies, both domestic and foreign, in a multitude of transactions, including so-called “cross-border” financings, such as cross-border leasing, international investment funds, and offshore reinsurance, among others. More recently, he has been actively involved in renewable and alternative energy transactions, both domestically and abroad, as well as domestic real estate transactions.
Previously, Stuart was the head of the tax departments at two major law firms and was an adjunct professor of law at New York University School of Law in the Graduate Tax Program. He also served as the head of a major U.S. law firm’s London office.
Over the course of his career, Stuart has spoken at a number of programs on a multiplicity of tax subjects—most recently on corporate inversions—and has published articles on collapsible corporations, corporate spinoffs, and leveraged leasing.
