Tara E Steinnerd concentrates her practice on areas such as Family, Child support, Divorce, and Separation. Her other practice areas are LGBT, Same-Sex Dispute, Domestic Relations, Divorce Modification, and Enforcement, Family, Alimony, Co-Parenting, etc.
Attorney Steinnerd a Certified Mediator for family law issues. She specializes in domestic issues regarding families. As a mediator, she counsels her clients on the language for the drafting of settlement agreements to keep matters out of court.
She went to the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. to obtain her Juris Doctorate. While studying in law school, she worked as a Law Clerk for the National Law Center for Children and Families, and as a Clerk for the Honorable Odessa Vincent in the D.C. Superior Court.
While participating in the D.C. Law Students In Court program, she represented criminal offenders in the D.C. Superior Court system as a third-year student attorney. She was also a member of Catholic University’s National Moot Court Team in Constitutional Law.
After completing law school, she joined a family law firm in Maryland, specializing in LGBT family law. This firm provided her with meaningful experience in all three jurisdictions of the Washington Metropolitan area. Being a native Texan, she attended Texas A&M University to earn her degree.
She has obtained the membership of the National LGBT Bar Association, Virginia State Bar, Maryland Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Virginia Women’s Attorney Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Family Law Section of the Fairfax Bar Association, the Montgomery County, the Prince George’s County, Maryland Bar Association, and the Maryland State Bar Association.
Tara Steinnerd has acquired the license to practice law in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Super Lawyers Magazine named her a Rising Star in Family Law in 2015 and 2016. The American Institute of Family Law Attorneys named her in the “10 Best Under 40” list.
