Eric Meli joined Levin & Perconti as a contract attorney in March 2016 and was hired as an associate attorney in November 2016. He graduated cum laude from Chicago-Kent College of Law in May 2015. Eric was on the Dean’s Honor List for Fall 2010, Fall 2011, Spring 2012, Fall 2014, and Spring 2015. He also received the CALI Awards for Personal Income Tax, Public Sector Employees, and Employee Benefits Law.
As a law student, Eric worked as a student editor for the Employee Rights and Employment Policy Journal. He Co-Authored an article published in the Benefits Law Journal entitled “Do the Liberty and Equality Principles of the Fourteenth Amendment Embrace Same-Sex Marriage?” This article analyzed the legal twists and turns leading up to the Supreme Court hearing oral arguments in Obergefell v. Hodges.
He earned the CALI award in his Public Sector Employees class for his seminar paper, “Judicial Policy Making in the Breach: Judicial Approaches to Unsettled Private Sector Labor Law and Unsettled Public Sector Labor Law,” which examined the history of the divergent paths in the growth of private sector labor law and public sector labor law in the United States.
Eric grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. He attended DePaul University where he received his B.A. in Political Science. Eric’s father is a retired firefighter paramedic and his sister is a hospital nurse. Eric wishes to apply his tireless work ethic and empathy to his practice of law in order to assist those in need, just like his father and sister.
