John Nielsen is a business litigation, tort and insurance, product liability and transportation attorney. His primary focus is on business litigation and tort, including all aspects of discovery, motion work, case analysis, and trial and arbitration preparation.
Mr. Nielsen prides himself in establishing excellent client communication and relationships. He seeks to always exceed his client’s expectations.
Prior to joining Higgs, Mr. Nielsen spent five years as a medical malpractice attorney for Hegeler & Anderson, APC and Greer & Associates, APC. In this role, he defended malpractice cases throughout Southern California and also assisted many physicians with investigations by the California Medical Board.
Examples of Mr. Nielsen’s prior representation include:
- Obtaining dismissals through motions for summary judgment in various state court civil matters;
- Obtaining dismissals through demurrers in various state court civil matters;
- Co-trying a quiet title action in state court in early 2018 where he successfully brought a motion for non-suit as to the opposing party’s causes of action for abuse of process and slander of title.
Mr. Nielsen received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Kansas, where he was a member of the football team as well as the All-Big 12 Academic Team and was awarded the Big 12 Conference Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarship. He earned his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in 2009.
Mr. Nielsen is currently on the board of the San Diego Chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame, an organization that focuses on promoting and recognizing the many talented amateur football players in San Diego County who are also excellent students and actively participate in community service.
Mr. Nielsen, who is a fourth-generation San Diegan, lives in Del Cerro with his wife, Justine, and their two young children, Jacob and Jadyn.
