Katrina M. Quicker focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation, with a particular emphasis on patent litigation and pre-litigation counseling. Katrina routinely appears before federal district and appellate courts throughout the country, as well as before tribunals such as the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

She also serves as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia for intellectual property matters. Katrina’s career began with training under one of the most well-known IP attorneys in the Atlanta area, Anthony Askew.

Over the course of her career, she has litigated more than 60 patent infringement cases covering technologies including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, chemical, mechanical, computer and electronics, and consumer products. A registered patent attorney, Katrina has extensive experience securing, protecting and managing patents and trademarks in the United States and internationally.

She also represents licensors and licensees in negotiating and drafting agreements that transfer intellectual property rights, and has advised clients on Hatch-Waxman lawsuits, regulatory filings for FDA Orange Book listing, FDA medical device matters such as premarket approval, and drug manufacturing compliance issues.

Katrina has been named an “Up and Coming” Intellectual Property attorney by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Businesssince 2012 and called “a future frontrunner” in the 2013 edition of IAM’s Patent 1000 list – the best-in-class listing of patent prosecution, licensing and litigation practitioners. She is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

  • Lead trial counsel for a Fortune 500 company. Successfully defended the company against patent infringement allegations, and the decision on summary judgment invalidating the patent under Section 101 was affirmed in a precedential opinion by the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
  • Lead trial counsel for a prestigious research university in pursuing patent infringement claims involving digital PCR technology used to detect abnormalities in biological samples.
  • Advised a pharmaceutical company on the $70 million sale of its worldwide rights to one of its drug outside the United States.
  • Co-lead trial counsel representing a medical device company in a two-week patent infringement trial at the International Trade Commission against more than 50 respondents.
  • Represented a university’s research foundation in arbitration involving a patent royalty dispute with a large pharmaceutical company.
  • Represented a pharmaceutical innovator against a generic drug company in ANDA litigation over a formulary analgesic.
  • Secures, protects and manages patents and trademarks domestically and internationally for physicians, medical device companies, public and private corporations, and large universities.
