Prior to joining LK, Lara led discovery for In re McCray, et. al., a case consisting of over twenty years of evidence from various New York City entities, resulting in a landmark $41 million aggregate settlement against the City of New York for the wrongfully convicted “Central Park Five.”
Lara continued her mission to fight for those who have been wronged as a Staff Attorney for Disability Rights New York, the Protection and Advocacy System in the State of New York. At DRNY she represented clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities litigating discriminatory practices against persons with disabilities in New York’s District Courts, the New York Appellate Division, Second Department and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, resulting in groundbreaking reform in the State.
Lara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Vassar College in 2009. She graduated with high honors. In 2012, Lara received her Juris Doctorate degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. While a student at Cardozo Law School, Lara authored her first publication, A Moot Issue? Rethinking Holocaust Era Restitution of Jewish Confiscated Personal Property in Poland in the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution. After graduation, she clerked for the Honorable James J. Guida, J.S.C., of the New Jersey Superior Court, Bergen County Vicinage.
