Sue Murphy focuses her practice in the areas of complex business and intellectual property litigation, representing clients nationally in both state and federal courts in all phases of litigation at the trial and appellate levels, in proceedings before the United States Trademark Trial and Appeals Board, in arbitrations and in administrative proceedings.
With an emphasis on representing clients in a variety of intellectual property disputes, including those involving copyright, trademark, trade dress, unfair competition, trade secret, non-compete enforcement and patent, Sue also handles a variety of business litigation matters, including both contract and commercial tort cases.
Sue’s business and intellectual property counseling experience includes counseling clients on trademark, advertising, and copyright laws, including the drafting and negotiation of licensing and assignments of trademarks and copyrights, domain names, social media and other website issues, including compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, drafting and enforceability of non-competition, non-solicitation and non-disclosure agreements, as well as on general corporate matters.
Prior to joining Shipman & Goodwin, Sue served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William J. Sullivan, Connecticut Supreme Court.
