As the son of the owner of an iconic San Antonio institution, personal injury specialist Andrew Treviño knows first-hand the challenges that come from running a small business.
His father owns Blue Cat Studios, the recording studio that kept the flame going for the legendary San Antonio sound, made famous by artists such as Flaco Jimenez, the West Side Horns and Texas Tornadoes. Growing up on the South Side, among musicians and honest, hard workers gave Andrew a passion for helping people in their times of need.
“I wanted to be the voice for people who don’t have a voice,” he says. “I want to help people who were wronged recover from their damages that they had no fault in causing. I love to negotiate and I like helping people who need help.”
He enjoys negotiating because he’s very good at it. While in law school, he won a negotiation competition. In that competition, he was named Best Speaker. Now, he uses those negotiation and speaking skills on behalf of his clients to make sure they receive the compensation they deserve for their injuries.
“Every day I get to negotiate with insurance adjustors and defense counsel,” he says. “This firm is a great place to use those skills I developed in law school.”
The San Antonio native graduated from Holy Cross High School and Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, before going on to St. Mary’s Law School. He’s a member of the San Antonio Bar Association, San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
With family and relatives in San Antonio, Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley, he often receives special honors when they seek him out to ask for help.
“What’s most rewarding for me is when friends and family trust me to take on the cases of their loved ones or themselves.” Andrew says. “There’s nothing more rewarding than that, I would say.”
And unlike many other law firms, Andrew personally works very hard to ensure that either he or another employee of the firm stays in contact with clients. That personal attention is what separates Andrew and the entire Gamez Law Firm from other attorneys.
“We have the resources that a lot of the bigger firms have, but also with the small firm attention to your case,” he says. “We don’t use voicemails in our office. Anytime you call, you’re going to speak to an actual human being. It’s easy to make somebody leave you a voicemail, but Mr. Gamez does not believe in that. He believes in giving every client personal attention and the time that they need.”
